Christian Education

The purpose of Christian Education is to teach and equip members to grow in their faith and discipleship. Our CE consists of three streams – Catechism, Family Life and Equip.

Catechism

The Catechism serves as a basic and comprehensive introduction to the faith, covering fundamental beliefs of the Church, and serves as instruction and preparation for baptism and confirmation.

To register for Catechism classes, please send your full name and email address to general@ycca.org.sg. Registration for the baptism course closes on 29 June 2025 and registration for the confirmation course closes on 17 August 2025.

Family Life

In the Family Life stream, we seek to provide a biblical perspective and practical handles to guide members through the different phases of their relationship with their significant other, and to strengthen marriage and families by equipping members to become Godly partners and parents who will nurture faith, hope and love in their family

St. James’ Church Tree of Life

We would like to encourage all parents to sign up for the Tree of Life course at St. James Church, which is a very comprehensive course that will help you build a loving family unit and empower parents to raise their children well. This is especially helpful for parents with children who are 4-12 years old, but all parents are welcomed.

To register, please register here or scan the QR code in the poster by 17 March 2025.

Equip

In the Equip stream, we seek to deepen our members’ knowledge of God and His Word, and equip them to live out their faith in Jesus Christ.

We will offer courses and talks that will cover three broad areas, namely:

  • Bible and Theology – growing in biblical interpretation and theological thinking
  • Christian Spiritual Formation – tending to our inner life
  • Faithful Living – understanding the implications of the gospel for our lives

What is the Bible, and How To Study It

God can speak to us in so many different ways, so why has he given us the Bible? Why should we read these biblical books written so long ago, and how can we understand them better for our lives today?

In this course, we will explore the nature of the Bible as the Word of God and look at its attributes – the Sufficiency, Clarity, Authority and Necessity of Scripture. We will then consider how we can study the Bible with some practical handles.

Speaker: Ps. Japheth Lim

Introduction to Worldviews in Singapore

Is there more to being a Christian than just going to church, reading the Bible, being a good person and attending cell group? How do we live as flourishing human beings in a busy, fast-paced world? Does God care about the things I care about – my hobbies, fun, adulting…?

This 3-part series tackles these fundamental questions and unpacks what it means to have a Christian worldview. Through teaching and discussions, we will discover the beauty and richness of God’s Grand Story, comparing it with the good and bad of the Singaporean story. We will also explore how our faith is far from being boring and outdated, and how a Christian worldview provides a robust framework for life and living well.

Hearing the Voice of God

How can we recognize God’s voice amidst the noise of daily life? How do we discern His leading from our own imagination, circumstantial coincidences, or human wisdom? The course offers the biblical foundation of hearing God and gives practical ways to cultivate a listening heart. Participants will learn to distinguish God’s leading from their own thoughts and external influences. Whether seeking guidance in major decisions or deepening intimacy with God, this course equips believers with tools to hear and respond to His voice with greater confidence and clarity.
